Obituary

Cecelia A. (Romano) Iannazzi, of Smithfield, formerly of Providence, passed Monday, June 24, 2019 surrounded by her family at the Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of Pasquale Iannazzi who predeceased her. They were married for 58 years.

Known by all as Cis, she was born in Providence, the daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Varone) Romano. She had lived in Providence for over 75 years before moving to Smithfield in 2007.

Cis proudly served Rhode Island College and the Student Body as the Chief Clerk of Records before retiring in 1989.

She is survived by her loving children: Jo-Ann Doyle and her husband, George of Providence, Donald S. Iannazzi and his wife, Annmarie of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and Helynn M. Baxter and her husband, J. Joseph of Smithfield, her cherished grandchildren: John Calcagni and his wife, Leticia of Providence, The Honorable Andrea Iannazzi of Cranston, Michael Calcagni and his wife, Meredith of Alexandria, VA, Stephen Iannazzi of North Providence, Ashley Lemieux and her husband, Robert of Cumberland, Joseph Baxter of Smithfield, Samantha Baxter of Smithfield, her great granddaughter, Cecelia Lemieux and her very special cousins, Sam and Terry DelPonte of Barrington.

Cis was predeceased by her brothers Ralph F. Romano and Dr. Michael Romano and will forever be remembered for her love of family and life.

A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, Visitation Friday 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-0050 St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital
