Dennis George Beshara Thomas, 39, passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2019. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, he lived and died in the city he was proud to call home.
He worked as a roofer and contractor for many years. Although he always completed this work with prideful skill, he had other passions. This led him to work with the New Bedford Police Department as an animal control officer. He always reflected on his time with the department as some of the most fulfilling in his life. He also took paramedic classes in the hopes to help others.
Although he was a private person to most, those who knew him best saw the true picture of the man. Some knew he loved to work out at the gym, others his love of tattoos. Some knew his love for other worlds, whether it was Game of Thrones, DC, or Marvel, though Batman would always be his favorite. He loved a wide variety of music too, ranging from 80s pop hits to ZZ Top. Most importantly, he loved to laugh. Whether he mocked movies like “Zombies on a Plane” or cracked jokes with family and friends, his wicked sense of humor always made them smile. Add to that his kind heart and his loyalty to those he cared about, and everyone has a story to tell. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by his mother, Eileen (Thomas) Brown and her second husband Howard; two sisters, Tanya Feke and her husband Gilbert, Kimberly Algarin and her husband Abiezer; an uncle Richard Mattos; three nieces, Jewel Souto, Makayla Rocheleau, and Charlotte Feke; two nephews, Tyler Jon Almeida and Gilbert Aidan Feke; and many cousins. He was the son of the late George Beshara Thomas.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday June 21, 2019 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Purgatory Maronite Catholic Church.
