David J. Scully Jr., 71 of Medford died Saturday in the Brigham And Women's Hospital of Boston following a lengthy illness. Born in Medford, he was the son of the late David and the late Eunice (Blanchard) Scully. Mr. Scully worked as a letter carrier and also with special deliveries for the U.S. Postal Service for thirty years retiring in 1988. Late member of Medford´s American Legion Posty 45. Late U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in David´s memory to the St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
Mr. Scully is survived by his beloved wife Anna M. (Leary). His six children, Mary Lopreste of Burlington, Andrew of Lynn, Thomas of Braintree, Stephen of Reading, Margaret of New Mexico and David of California. Also survived by nine loving grandchildren. Brother of Mary Scully of Somerville, Trudy Algar of Georgia, Ellen Merrill of Medford and the late James “Michael” Scully.His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. MEDFORD Wednesday at 8 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
