On January 9, 2006, Dale Sartain, beloved husband of the late Lillian Sartain, and father of sons, Jimmy Sartain and Jack Sartain, went to be with the Lord. Mr. Sartain lived for many years in Water Valley, MS, where he began a hardware business in 1963. Through the years he was known for his integrity in business, his love for people, and his devotion to his family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Water Valley and served as a deacon.
Mr. Sartain served his country as a member of the U S Army during WW II with the US Army Paratroopers. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles, survived the Battle of The Bulge at Bastogne, received a Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge Medal with one Bronze Cluster and a World War II Victory Medal.
The family will receive friends at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, January 11, 2006, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be Thursday morning in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at 10:00 AM with Dr. Randy Bain and Joe Davis officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Also surviving Mr. Sartain are: sister Doris "Sissie" Callicutt of Memphis, TN: Grandchildren, Jennifer Dean, Jill Todd and Micheal Sartain : Great Grandchildren, Taylor Dean, Sara Ellis Dean, Molly Todd and Jack Parker Todd.
Preceding him in death ,in addition to his beloved wife, were his parents, Hyram Russell Foster Sartain and Pearl Johnsey Sartain: Sisters, Edna Earl Rotenberry, Eva Mae Wilbourn and Julia Pearl Sartain: Brothers, Doyle Sartain and Russell Foster "Pee Wee" Sartain, Jr. and Granddaughter, Lillian Marie Sartain.
