Obituary

Salem - Maurice M. Martineau,84, of Salem and Brooksby Village, Peabody, died peacefully Wednesday, June 12, 2019. He was the husband of the late Cecile (Cote) Martineau who was the love of his life.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Henri E. Martineau and Irene (Marquis) Martineau. He lived in Salem all his life until he moved to Brooksby Village Peabody in 2013.
Throughout his life he worked at many different jobs in order to provide for his family. He worked for the City of Salem for many years and was an assistant building inspector at the time of his retirement.
Mr. Martineau was a devout Catholic who was a parishioner of the former Saint Joseph’s Church and later Saint Anne’s Church in Salem.
His passion was playing cards and billiards and he was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Predeceased by his beautiful wife, Cecile, he was the proud and loving father of his eight children and their families: Anne Marie and Linwood Balentine of Salem, Michael Martineau and friend Peggy Chapman of Houston TX, the late Claudette Kaminski and husband Michael of Billerica, Jeanne Martineau of Lynn, Paul and Karen Martineau of Hudson, NH, Monique and Richard Osgood of Salem, Gloria and Mahesh Reddivari of Wilmington and Rachelle Martineau of West Springfield. He was the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren James and Cassandra Balentine, John and Iryra Balentine, Caitlin Kaminski, Jamie Paul Jr. and Halie Martineau, Marissa and Eduardo Beato, Mitchell Osgood, Annika and Abigail Reddivari and great grandfather of William and Harrison Balentine and was looking forward to the birth of his great granddaughter.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers Sister Irene Martineau, SASV of Dracut, Jeannine and Arthur Francis of Salem, Annette O’Brien of Wellesley, Marie-Therese and Thomas Brien of Billerica, Bernard and Ginette Martineau of Salem, Jean-Guy and Jean-Claude Martineau of Salem and his sister in law Lucille Martineau of Clifton NJ in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his wife, daughter and parents, he was predeceased by his four brothers Henri Martineau Jr., Father Laurier Martineau, Joseph Martineau and Richard Martineau.

Arrangements: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Friday, June 14 from 4 to 7 PM. The funeral mass will be held at Saint Anne’s Church, 292 Jefferson Ave., Salem on Saturday, June 15th at 12:00 Noon. Interment is private.
