Wiley “Wayne” Montgomery, 76, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Tifton Health and Rehab. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Union Grove Church of God in Eldorado with the Rev. Rickey Wells officiating. Mr. Montgomery will be laid to rest at Union Grove Church of God Cemetery in Eldorado. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Montgomery will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Born July 3, 1942 in Cook County, Mr. Montgomery was the son of the late George Washington Montgomery and Sally Yawn Montgomery. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty “Carol” Taylor Montgomery, who passed away April 10, 2019; one sister; and three brothers. Before retiring, he was a semi-driver for Brownlee Farm Center. He was a member of Tift Avenue Church of God, loved the Word of God and had read the Bible 34 times. He loved to play the flat-top guitar, loved to read Western books and watch Westerns on TV. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Mr. Montgomery is survived by one son, David Montgomery of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Bob McKenzie of Middleburg, Florida, Toni and Marc Hosey of Tifton and Anita and Butch Hosey of Cumming; two sisters, Eudine Vickers of Delaware and Imogene “Jane” Bridges of Sylvester; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin Hosey, Erin and Larry Hart, Leslie and Jamie Schluckebier, Nicole Sumner, Drew Sumner, Opal Hosey and Sarah Hosey; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
