Obituary

George J. Nixon III, 57, of Walpole died suddenly June 6, 2019. Born in Norwood on October 9,1961, he was the son of George (Jim) and Gail Nixon, Jr. George was a lifelong Walpole resident and a graduate of Walpole High School. George enjoyed the beach, live music, and sports. He loved dancing, and at weddings or clubs you couldn’t pull him off the dance floor. His time in Florida was spent playing tennis, relaxing on the beach, and floating in the ocean. He recently loved spending time in New York City with his son Darren, and his family- especially his four beautiful grandchildren. George was proud of his sobriety and very active in local support groups. He especially enjoyed his time with his many friends and could be found lending a helping hand to all. Most importantly, George loved his family. His deep love for his parents, siblings, son, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews was never doubted. He never missed a celebration, attending every wedding, baptism, birthday, graduation or any get together, and was usually first in line for the buffet! The family wants everyone to remember George as they do...loving, non-judgemental, and always willing to lend anyone a hand. And his smile, his amazing, bright smile! In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son Darren Nixon and his wife Ashley of Brooklyn, New York. He is also survived by his siblings, Linda Attwood and her husband Scott of Volente, Texas, Karen Drummey and her husband Timothy of East Walpole, David Nixon and his wife Frankie of Gloucester, Jodi Verderber and her husband Joe of Walpole, Peter Nixon and his wife Jennifer of Wrentham, Kate Procaccini and her husband Joe of East Walpole and Andrew Nixon and his wife Heather of Walpole. George is also survived by his grandchildren, Taylor, Sienna, Violet and Emilia, his godfather Peter Nixon and his wife Phyllis of Millis as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and 22 nieces and nephews, all who loved and will miss him very much.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, June 14 in the Epiphany Episcopal Church, Walpole at 10:00. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 in the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginelyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main Street, Walpole.
