Obituary

Wojnar, Henry B. of East Sandwich formerly of Wellesley, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2019 at home.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mildred (Regan) Wojnar, his daughter Elizabeth Fernald; son Mark Wojnar; daughter Marianne Rocco and husband Joseph Rocco; daughter Carolyn Wojnar; seven grandchildren; sister Ann Folzenlogen; and many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts, he was the son of Frank and Kathryn (Gonet) Wojnar. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1945, Mr. Wojnar attended Boston College, graduating in 1949 with a degree in Chemistry—and a life-long passion for BC Football. He later earned a Master’s Degree from the University of New Hampshire.

A USAF Veteran of Korea, Mr. Wojnar taught science at Mass Bay Community College in Wellesley for many years before retiring in 1990. His wit, charm, and infectious love of life will be greatly missed.

Special thanks to the paramedics from the Sandwich Fire Department, the staff at Cape Cod Hospital ER, and Father George Harrison of Corpus Christi Parish for their assistance in our hour of need.

Funeral from the P.E. Murray-F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St. West Roxbury on Thursday, June 13, at 10:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Theresa Church, 2078 Centre St. West Roxbury at 11:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 12, from 4-8pm. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
