Marilyn H. "Mal" (Ahearn) Goggin, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, June 7, 2019 at her home in Charlestown. She was 74 years of age.
Mal was born in Boston on September 2, 1944, a daughter of the late John Ahearn and Eleanor (Fitzpatrick) Ahearn. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated throughout the Boston Public School system. Mal worked as a Secretary for the Boston Public School Department and retired following over 25 years of dedicated service to the City of Boston. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and reading. Most of all in Mal's life, she enjoyed the quality times she was able to spend with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Mal is the beloved wife of 53 years to Robert S. "Maury" Goggin. She is the devoted mother of Patricia Gallarelli and Robert "Bobby" Goggin and his wife Gail. She is the loving Ma to Meaghann and her husband Eli, Caitlin, Alyssa, Daniel and her special princess Eveline. She is the beloved sister of Janice Murphy and her husband Mickey and the late Eleanor Cain, Patricia Heenan and John "Smokey" Ahearn. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mal's Funeral on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
