Obituary

Edward Cabral, 60, of Fairhaven, died Thursday, June 6, 2019 courageously at home, as wished, after a long illness. He was the husband of Jane L. (Cobb) Cabral.

Born in Fall River and raised in New Bedford, the son of Esmeralda Cabral of New Bedford and the late Herman Cabral, Jr., he lived in Fairhaven for most of his life.

Eddie was formerly employed as a custodian for 32 years at Third District Court, Superior Court and the Registry of Deeds in New Bedford.

He was a longtime member and former President of the Our Lady of Angels Catholic Association in Fairhaven, former President of the Portuguese -American Social Club in Dartmouth, a member of the Society of Senhor da Pedra in New Bedford, and a member of Fairhaven Lagoa Friendship Pact Committee.

Eddie was a fan of the Boston Bruins, the Washington Redskins, and the Benfica and the Liverpool Football Sports Clubs. He played hockey for the Crusaders, the Braves and the Tavern hockey teams.

Proud of his Azorean heritage, Eddie enjoyed listening to Portuguese music, especially live bands. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and socializing with his friends, scratch tickets, and Janes.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; a son, Jacob Cabral of Fairhaven; a daughter, Krystal Imbeau and her husband Ron of Dartmouth; a step-daughter, Katelyn Menard and her fiancé Ian Garcia of Providence; a daughter-in-law, Liz Cabral of Dartmouth; a brother, Stephen Cabral and his fiancée Monique L'Ecuyer of Fairhaven; 2 sisters, Dianne Costa and her husband Chris, and Rose Cabral, all of New Bedford; 5 grandchildren, Kaylin Cabral, Andrew Cabral, Jr., Kylianna Imbeau, Ellie Cabral and Ava (Imbeau) Almeida; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jennifer and Paul Teixeira and John and Teresa Mistler; his granddog, Molly; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Andrew Cabral.

His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Following the burial everyone is invited to attend a celebration of Eddie's life at Our Lady of Angels Hall, 7 Jesse St., Fairhaven.
