Obituary

Mr. Charles Arthur Meeks, a resident of Medford, formerly of New Mexico and beloved husband of Carol A (Puchalski) Meeks, passed away at his home on June 2, 2019.  He was 81 years old.  For his last 7 years, he fought a long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).

Born in Newberry, So Carolina, he was the beloved son of the late John C and Thelma G (Black) Meeks. Mr. Meeks was a graduate of UMass Lowell, where he earned his bachelor's degree.  He was retired from the New England Telephone Company, where he worked as a lineman and supervisor. In later years, he worked as a Verizon Site Engineer for the Massachusetts 911 system.

Prior to the onset of PSP, Charles enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife and playing golf  but continued to watch sports, especially hockey.  He loved the years he spent in New Mexico. He will be dearly missed but more joyously remembered.

He was father to Charles Richard (Mandy) Meeks of Groton, step-father to Carla (Cole) Parker of Framingham, Edward Embriano of Medford and loving grandfather to Angela Meeks and Whitaker and Isabelle Parker. Charles proudly served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

His funeral service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors AVenue, Medford on Friday, June 7, 2019, at noon. Visitation will be held in the funeral home, prior to the service, from 11 AM to noon. All are welcome.
