Obituary


Veronica ‘Ronni’ Farrell of Truro died unexpectedly in her home on Monday, May 20, 2019. She was 72.

Born and raised on Staten Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Melvin) Farrell. Following high school, she graduated from Fordham University, then earned a Master's Degree in Exercise Science at the University of Massachusetts. She was a social studies and gym teacher on Staten Island.

Ronni moved to Provincetown in the mid-seventies and to Truro when she bought her land and built her home in 1999-2000. As a general contractor with a deep concern for the environmental impact of development, she served on the Truro Energy Committee during 2010-11, helping Truro become eligible for Green Community status. Prior to that she served on Truro's Building Committee.

She was a lover of animals, a passionate organic gardener who built her own greenhouse and an accomplished artist and musician. She followed the Patriots with fervor!

Ronni is survived by her niece, Helen Kerner and nephew, Martin Hewitt, both of New York. She is also survived by many Truro and Provincetown friends. She was predeceased by niece, Grace Hewitt and a sister, Louise Farrell.

A Celebration of Ronni’s Life will be held in the fall at a time and date to be announced.
