WEBSTER – Regina P. (Jarmolowicz) Chmura, 80, of 23 Ash St., died Saturday, Jan. 7, after being stricken ill. Her husband of 53 years, Theodore L. Chmura, died in 1997.
She leaves a daughter, Jane P. Brossman and her husband Robert J. of Millville; a sister, Theresa
Druzbicki and her husband Raymond of Dudley; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her daughter Alice L. Chmura in 1994 and by her brothers Frank, Charles, Joseph, Bruno, Dominic, Anthony, Jerome and John and her sister Stefania Jarmolowicz.
She was born in Webster, daughter of Joseph and Apolonia (Kulbacki) Jarmolowicz, and was a lifelong resident. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School, Bartlett High School, and the Frank Gavianni Accordion School of Music in Worcester.
Mrs. Chmura taught accordion for 42 years to over 400 students. An accomplished accordionist herself, over the years she played with the Stan Kolak Orchestra, the Lwoska Orchestra, the Ziggy Miller Duo, the Joe Lewandowski Trio, the Eddy Zisk Trio, the Wilnoska Orchestra and the Four Sharps. In 1966, she organized the Polish Accordionettes who played for local functions. She was also costume director and musician for the Piast Group, a Polish heritage organization in the area.
She was a parishioner at St. Andrew Bobola Church in Dudley. She was a member of the Worcester County Organization for Ethnic Affairs. She was a professional seamstress and gourmet cook. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening and canning.
The funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 12, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St., Dudley. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. A calling hour will be from 9:15 to 10:15 AM Thursday in the funeral home.
