Frank Howard "Cutie" Corry, Jr., 86, of Tifton, died Sunday, January 8, 2006 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church in Tifton.
Born February 26,1919 in Tifton, Mr. Corry was the son of Frank Howard Corry, Sr. and Maureen Wynn Ridgdill Corry. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Frank Howard Corry, III.
He graduated from Tifton High School and received his B.S. degree in business from the University of Georgia, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
He is survived by Joyce Callaway Corry, his wife of 54 years; one daughter, Janet Callaway Corry of Las Vegas, Nevada; one son and duaghter-in-law, Joseph Callaway and Michele Radin Corry of Fort Lauderdale, FL; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Elizabeth Corry of DeBarry, FL; and three granddaughters, Leigh Anna Corry, Erin Fay Corry and Melissa Radin Corry.
Mr. Corry was in the United States Naval Reserve during World War II. Later, he joined his father in his wholesale dry goods business, Wade-Corry Company and Roberts Dry Goods of Tifton. He sold the business in 1975.
During his retirement years, he sold towels out of his van and was known by his loving customers as "The Towel Man". Cutie was a good athlete who loved and played all sports. He played football for Tifton High School in 1936 and the University of Georgia. He was an avid golfer all of his life and was a member of Springhill Country Club.
No one enjoyed life any more than Cutie. He was always ready with a joke, a laugh, a game and a friend to enjoy it with.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Tiftarea or the First Presbyterian Church of Tifton.
