Obituary

Cora L. (McLean) Hession, age 85, of Winchester, died on Saturday, January 7th at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester, after a brief illness. Born in 1920 in St. John’s, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Norman L. and Violet (Leaman) McLean. She was raised and educated in Canada and came to the United States where she met her husband, the late William “Pat” Hession, and settled in Winchester, where they lived for over 60 years.

Cora was a hairdresser by profession and owned and operated a salon for over 15 years in Winchester on Lochwan St. where she served a dedicated clientele. She was active in the Winchester community, primarily as a member of Immaculate Conception Church where she served on the Ladies Sodality. She loved the game of Bingo and enjoyed it further as a volunteer for the Bingo program at the church.

She was the loving sister of Norman McLean of Ottawa, Canada, Norma Belanger of Pickering, Ontario, Stanley McLean of Toronto and Margaret Forbes of Truro, Nova Scotia. She was also the dear Aunt of Patricia LeSaffre of Melrose and many other nieces and nephews. Cora is also survived by her two dear friends, Carol McGrath and Gina Capone both of Winchester. Funeral from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Wed. Jan. 11th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Winchester at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tues. 4-7 PM. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
