BILLERICA - Carl F. Bahia Sr., age 73, a resident of Billerica for the past four decades, died Sunday
morning, Jan. 8, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading after a lengthy illness. He was
the husband of Carol (Sutherland) Bahia, with whom he had celebrated a 43rd wedding
anniversary this past May 13.
He was born on Long Island, N.Y. a son of Elin (Boberg) Bahia, and raised in Charlestown and
Somerville. He moved to Billerica in 1962.
During the Korean War, he served in the US Navy.
He was the founder and owner of Carl’s Fork Lift Service, before joining Verizon telephone
company, as a mechanic.
He was an antique automobile enthusiast, and traveled to many car shows as a hobby.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Deborah Morgan of Billerica, a son and daughter-
in-law, Carl Bahia Jr. and his wife Sarah (Field) Bahia of Pepperell; a sister, Greta Maguire of FL;
a sister-in-law, Ruth Bahia of CA; four grandchildren, Trevor and Talia Morgan of Billerica and
Jack and Bryan Bahia of Pepperell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late David Bahia.
Following his cremation, Memorial Visitation was held Jan. 11, in the funeral home. Memorials to the Sawtelle Hospice
