Obituary

Judith A. (Morency) Gaudet-Ortiz, 66, passed away unexpectedly at the NSMC / Salem Hospital on Saturday, May 25, 2019, following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of Pablo J. Ortiz. Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Eugene H. and Elizabeth (Richardson) Morency.
Judi, as she is known to all who loved her, was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and doting cat mother. She and husband Pablo enjoyed a long and wonderful marriage of respect and sharing. Unassuming, Judi’s presence was always known. She was the central cog of her family wheel. Judi will be remembered as a good neighbor and unconditional friend, whose door was always open to family and friends. Throughout her lifetime, Judi worked many jobs on the North Shore, touching many lives and leaving a firm yet loving footprint of her time at each place. Judi enjoyed sewing scrubs for family members, crocheting “booties” for everyone each Christmas. She always had great meals cooking on the stove, especially relishing the planning of family gatherings. She loved her cat children and enjoyed tending her backyard bird visitors looking for her attentions as well. Judi’s heart and thoughtfulness were forever without condition or expectation of reciprocity. Judi will be missed by so many for so many reasons. She will be forever present and loved.
In addition to her husband Pablo, she is survived by her son, J. Dennis Gaudet and wife Ruth Ann of Peabody, her daughter, Lesilie Gaudet of Salem, her sister Phyllis A. Smith of Ipswich, five grandchildren, William Murphy, Christopher Gaudet, Alysa Gaudet, Michael Goodwin and Taylor Gaudet as well as 2 great-grandsons, Michael & Noah. She was predeceased by her brother John P. Morency.
