Wilcox, Jane White, age 87, devoted wife of David Sanborn Wilcox, her husband of 65 years, loving mother to their three daughters, Sarah White Wilcox, Susan Wilcox White, and Faith Fuller Wilcox, died on May 19 after a long illness. Jane was raised in Winchester and Lowell, MA, and settled into West Hartford, CT where she and David raised their daughters. After retirement, they moved to Osterville, MA and then to Needham, MA.
Jane will be remembered for her talent as an interior decorator, nationally recognized gardener, and advocate for improving urban parks and gardens. She was a member of the Connecticut State Golf team, a valued volunteer at Miss Porter’s School, Trinity College, the Wadsworth Athenaeum, and Hartford Hospital. Jane was a graduate of the Walnut Hill School for the Arts, Pine Manor Junior College, and the Tobe Coburn School of Fashion.
In addition to her husband, Jane is survived by Sarah Wilcox and her husband Stephen Farrell of Newton, MA, Susan White and her husband Peter White of Chestnut Hill, MA, Faith Wilcox and her husband Whitford Bond of Sudbury, MA, her beloved grandchildren Alexandra Russ of Somerville, MA, Katie O’Riordan, her husband Brendan O’Riordan and their daughter Madison of Boston, MA, David White and Jonathan White of Boston, MA. Her granddaughter Elizabeth Russ died in 2001. Jane is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend Jane’s Memorial Service on Saturday, June 8 at 11am at the Wellesley Congregational Village Church, 2 Central Street, Wellesley, MA 02482.
