Obituary

James J. Duggan of Canton formerly of Norwood passed away at the Norwood Hospital on May 21st.Born and raised in Boston he attended Boston Public Schools. James enlisted in the Navy and served during WWII. After his honorable discharge in 1945, he enrolled at Northeastern University and Wentworth Institute graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Civil Engineering. James worked for Boston Gas Co., BF Goodrich, Kaumagraph, and Sherman Shoe Supply. His hobbies included golf, poker, watching the stock market, and reading crime novels. He enjoyed singing karaoke at Big D’s and many South Shore establishments where he was known as “Gentleman Jim”. Jim will be remembered for his sense of humor and love of telling jokes. Devoted husband of Margaret C. (Mahoney). Loving father of Deborah Damon and her late husband Ted of Canton, James Duggan and his wife Beverly of Merrimack, NH and Lisa Brown and her late husband Jim of Canton. Brother of late Lorraine McCoy and Doris Francis. Grandfather of Michael Damon & his wife Samantha of VA, Tracey Damon and her fiancé Matt Egan of Easton, Robert Brown of Norton, Timothy Brown of Canton, and Jennifer Duggan of Merrimack, NH. Great grandfather of Tyler and Jacob. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton on Friday at 1:00pm. Visiting one hour prior from 12-1:00 pm. Interment private. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of James can be made to: AMEGO, Inc. a not for profit organization that supports individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities throughout their lives.
