Joan E. Paolucci, a longtime Wilmington resident formerly of Medford, passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness, May 20, 2019. She was 78 years of age. Joan was the beloved wife of the late Robert S. "Bobby Pal" Paolucci, Sr. Born in Medford she was the cherished daughter of the late John P. and Angela (Valente) Storella.
Joan was raised and educated in Medford and was a 1958 graduate of Medford High School. Shortly following her graduation and marriage, Joan and Bob settled in Wilmington and together raised their four sons and daughter. Family was everything to Joan and all that she did revolved around the wellbeing of her husband and children. For many years she worked as a talented seamstress creating beautiful draperies. She also worked for a number years at the Wingate of Reading Nursing Home while her mother was in residence prior to her passing.
Joan cherished her family and nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by her grandchildren and those she loved. Over the years Joan enjoyed flower gardening and doll collecting, but her greatest joy was her family.
Joan is survived by her devoted children; Robert S. Paolucci, Jr. of Andover, Gary Paolucci and his wife Sandra of North Reading, Roy Paolucci, Steven Paolucci, and Lora Scalese, all of Wilmington. She is also survived by 15 loving grandchildren and 13 loving great grandchildren. Sister of John Storella of Townsend.
Funeral Services will be held from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Friday, May 24th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday at the Dello Russo Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
