Obituary

Eugene E. Rivet 86, formerly of Harrison Ave. Woonsocket died December 10, 2005 in Port St. Lucie, FL. Mr. Rivet moved to Port St. Lucie, FL ten years ago. He is the husband of Lucy (Archambault) Rivet. Mr. and Mrs. Rivet celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary May 24, 2005.
Mr. Rivet was born in Woonsocket a son of the late Gaspard and Ernestine (Laurin) Rivet.

Mr. Rivet was the Deputy Liquor Control Administrator for the State of Rhode Island before retiring in 1987. He was a former Rhode Island State Representative, District 65 from 1966-1972. He was a member of the Woonsocket Democratic City Committee. Mr. Rivet was a WWII US Marine Veteran and saw action on Guadalcanal. He received the Asiatic/Pacific American Theater Medal. Mr. Rivet was a member of the Woonsocket Lodge of Elks, the AMVETS, the Cercle Laurier, and St. Joseph’s Veteran Assoc. He was a communicant of Precious Blood Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Bob Rivet of San Jose, CA, a daughter Jeannine Rivet of Minnetrista, MN, two grandchildren Jadi Gray and Nikki Ness, five great grandchildren, Lauren, Regan, Benit, Connor and Veronica. He was also the brother of the late Phillip Rivet, Del Phaneuf, Cecile Beauchamp, and Juliette Peloquin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:00 in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. A reception will follow the Mass at Kirkbrae Country Club, Old River Rd. Lincoln, RI. Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations to the Salvation Army, PO Box 339, Fort Pierce, FL 34948, in his memory would be appreciated.
