Obituary

WESTBOROUGH: Oliver Sherman Stacy, 93, died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by his family on May 6, 2019 following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Saugus on August 5, 1925 the son of the late Lucien D. Stacy and Ruth E. (Dunn) Stacy.
Sherman was the husband of the late Virginia M. “Ginny” (Ring) Stacy who died on May 28, 2014.
He is survived by his devoted and loving children: Charlene Davis and her husband Stan of Shrewsbury; Marcia Martin and her husband Jeff Ward of Northborough and Douglas Stacy and his wife Diane of Greenville, Rhode Island. He was the brother of the late Ken Stacy. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and his sister-in-law Arlene Stacy.
Sherman spent his formative years in Saugus and Lynn and had been a resident of Natick for over 66 years before moving to Westborough to be closer to his daughters. He served his country proudly during World War II on the U.S.S. Yosemite in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was honored to be the President of the Reunion Committee for the U.S. S. Yosemite. He had a long and distinguished career as an Electronics Technician beginning at Dennison in Framingham from 1948 until 1952 and with Raytheon from 1953 until his retirement in 1990.
He was an avid sports enthusiast for the New England sports teams but prouder and delighted in supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all of their endeavors. He enjoyed boating off the coast of Chatham with his family.
Private family services will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
