
Meredith-Ruth E. Phillips, 78, of 19 NH Route 104, formerly of 22 Irving Street in Laconia died at Golden View Health Care Center on Saturday morning, January 7, 2006.
Ruth was born in Keene on October 26, 1927 the daughter of the late Paul H. and Blanche (Loiselle) Phillips. She was raised and schooled in Laconia, and had been a resident of Laconia for most of her life.
Prior to her retirement Ruth worked for the former O’Shea’s Department Store in Laconia, and retiring from the Public Service Company of NH as a customer service clerk after 35 years. Ruth graduated from Laconia High School, Class of 1945. She was a lifetime communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia, and a fifty-year member of both The Ladies Guild and The Catholic Daughters of America. Her favorite pastimes included traveling with the Laconia Savings Bank tours, collecting local history for scrapbooks, as well as enjoying her many nieces and nephews.
Ruth is survived by two brothers, Richard H. Phillips of Hudson, NH, and Donald A. Phillips and his wife Janice A. of Meredith. Three nephews, five nieces, and twelve grand nieces and nephews also survive her.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Gary J. Kosmowski pastor of the church celebrated the mass. Burial followed at 1:00 p.m. in the family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Visiting hours were Monday, January 9, 2006 from 7-9 pm at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia, using the Union Avenue Chapel. Family and friends were invited to attend.
