WEBSTER – Joan Shirley Gatzke, 72, of Webster Manor, died Thursday, Jan. 5, in St. Vincent Hospital.
She leaves two brothers, Robert F. “Bob” Gatzke and his wife Kathleen R., and Ernest G. Gatzke and his wife Virginia “Ginger”; a sister, Patricia Toukonen and her husband Arthur, all of Webster; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was born in Webster, the oldest child of Ernest R. and Mary (Bialy) Gatzke. She lived on Everett Ave. for many years. She enjoyed babysitting and helping her neighbors.
The funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 9, from Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Louis Church, 14 Lake St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. A calling period will be from 8:30 to 9:15 AM Monday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to either Webster Manor Patient Activities Fund, 745 School St., or to St. Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake St., both Webster, MA 01570
