Catherine R. "Kay" (Licari) Gianino, lifelong resident of Medford, passed away on Sunday, May 12th. She was 92. Born in Boston and raised in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Rose (Gange) Licari.
Kay was a proud graduate of the Lawrence Memorial School of Nursing. After graduating she became a maternity nurse, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where she would enjoy 43 wonderful years of dedicated service up to her retirement in 1991. She absolutely loved her job, her patients and bringing new lives into the City of Medford. A woman of strong faith and a lifelong parishioner of Saint Clements Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.
When Kay was not working or participating in church activities she loved to spend time with her family. Every Sunday she would gather the family together for a home cooked family dinner. There were no excuses-you had to be there. She also enjoyed catching up on a game of cards with her friends, occasional scratch ticket session with a cup of hot black coffee in her hand, or indulging in a box of assorted chocolates.
Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Michael A. Gianino. She was the devoted mother of Kathy Ann Gianino and her wife Alice Knowles, of Medford, Michael J. Gianino and his wife Susan, of Medford, Gary J. Gianino and his wife Elizabeth, of Burlington, Pamela Morello and her husband Carl, of Medford, and Andrea Warren and her husband Steven, of Burlington. She was the loving nana of Amy, Michelle, Michael, Gary, Joseph, Catherine, Amanda, Jennifer, Kayla, Stephanie, Brian and Eric and great-nana of Juliana, Jocelyn, Aria, Maggie and Kyle. She was the dear sister of Aidan Licari, of Alabama, and the late Leonard Licari and Philip Licari.
