Porter - Lester H. Norton, 83, of Porter died on May 1, 2019 at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a brief illness. He was born in Porter on June 18, 1935 a son of Rupert and Christie (Clemons) Norton and attended Porter schools. He married Irene D. Frost on July 6, 1957.
Lester worked hard his whole life. He was a self employed farmer, woodsman and logger. He enjoyed hunting when he could and was a long time member of the Kezar Falls Assembly of God. Spending time with his family was most important to Lester.
He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Annette. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Irene Norton of Porter. Three sons: Lester Norton Jr., Glen Norton and wife Melissa, and John Norton all of Porter. Two daughters, Lucille Reed and husband David of Fryeburg, and Cynthia DeBlois and husband Mark of Rhode Island. Also eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be on Thursday, May 9, at 1 p.m. at the Stanley Cemetery on Rt. 160 in South Hiram. Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home is respectfully handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.mainefuneral.com
