Obituary

SPRINGFIELD ~ Annmarie T. "Ann" (Goodreau) Ward, 59, of the East Springfield section of Springfield, was Called Home on Monday, April 29, 2019. She passed away unexpectedly into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on March 9, 1960, a beloved daughter of the late Gerald Goodreau who was Called Home on February 10, 1997 and Eleanor B. (Forent) Goodreau who was Called Home on June 12, 2015. Ann was raised and attended schools in Springfield, received an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Springfield Technical Community College and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was employed for many years at F.L. Roberts in Springfield as an Accounts Receivable Clerk. She and her sister, Gloria, co-owned a jewelry business known as Goody Sisters. Ann lived and breathed for her time at the casinos. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time tending to her yard at home. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Leroy Ward, Jr. They were married on October 25, 1986 at United Congregational Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 32 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three loving children who will miss her dearly, Michelle G. Dearden and her husband, David, of West Springfield, Leroy Ward III of Springfield and Nikia Volanda Ward of Estelle, GA; her five cherished grandchildren, Drew and Jax Dearden and Ty, Kashawn and Kaylaa Ward; her cherished great-grandson; her dear brother, Richard J. Goodreau of Springfield; her dear sister, Gloria J. Lombardi and her husband, Robert, of Springfield; her three dear sisters-in-law, Christine Goodreau of East Longmeadow, Sylathia Ann Nti of Springfield and Yvonne McQueen of Savannah, GA; her dear brother-in-law, Levi Ward of Texas; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Ward and Goodreau families. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her two dear brothers, Gerald J. Goodreau who was Called Home on February 5, 2019 and Allen F. Goodreau who was Called Home on October 30, 2017. Her family will receive friends on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. which will be followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
