Obituary


Benita I. Pintone, of Woburn formerly of Medford and Boston's North End passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, April 30, 2019. She was the beloved wife of Carmelo Pintone and together they shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Avellino, Italy she was the daughter of the late Leonardo and Giulietta (Capodilupo) Tammaro.

Benita came to the United States at the age of 16 and settled in the North End of Boston with her family. She was married in 1958 to her beloved Carmelo in a ceremony held at St. Mary Church in the North End. Following her marriage the young couple moved to Medford where they would raise their family. Benita worked for many years as a talented seamstress with the Meltzer Sportswear Company. Benita's main focus in life was her family. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved cooking for family and friends and nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren and those she loved, always making sure they had all they needed and were well fed. She was life member of the Madonna Delle Grazie Society and was most proud of being a citizen of the United States.

In addition to her husband, Benita is survived by her devoted children; Theresa Pagliuca and her husband Joseph of Medford, Giulietta Pompey and her husband Stephen of Woburn, and Giovanni Pintone and his wife Jean of Georgetown. She was the loving grandmother of Lina Pappalardo and her husband Jonathan of Medford, Giuliana Rizzo and her husband Marc of Reading, Melissa Ward and her husband Michael of Woburn, T.J. Pompey and his wife Sarah of Woburn, Nicole Pintone and Danielle Pintone, both of Georgetown. She was the loving great Grandmother of Carmen, Tye, Harper, Charlie and Reese. Sister of Norma Nappi of Italy, the late Josephine, Anthony, Allesandro, Michael, Evelina, Angela and Luigi. Further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Monday, May 6th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Benita's memory to the Boston Children's Hospital Trust, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
