Florence J. Barrasso passed away at the Beverly Hospital on Friday evening. She was 91. Born and raised in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Vito Antonio and Julia Mary (Serbeck) Pelosi. A Medford resident for over 50 years, Florence was devoted to her family. While she helped her husband in the operation of his dry-cleaning business, raising her children and being with family and friends were important to her. She was all about the family. A devout woman, Florence often to her grandchildren to Sunday Mass and made every effort to pass on the faith. She loved traveling and spent time with her many siblings. She also welcomed the next generations and looked forward to spending time with grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Florence was also a bit of a fashionista. Her outfits were always stylish, her jewelry was always perfect and everything matched head to toe.
Florence enjoyed a long and happy marriage with her husband Nicholas R. Barrasso who passed away in 2016. She was a devoted mother to: Nancy T. Pagels and her husband Robert of Rowley, Nicholas R. Barrasso, Jr and his wife Susan of Hudson, Fla., and Armand Barrasso and his wife Lynne of North Andover. Florence was a loving grandmother to Kerry A. Sabatino and her husband Felix of Reading, Amanda M. DeFeo and her husband Andrew of Cortlandt Manor, NY., Nicholas M. Barrasso and his wife Marlana of Arlington as well as a loving great-grandmother to Gabriella E. Sabatino, Giuliana R. Sabatino and Theodore Nicholas DeFeo. The dear sister of Dr. Robert Pelosi and the late Angelo Pelosi, Jennie Puccio, Mary Celestino, Theresa Ventre, Ugo Pelosi, Anthony Pelosi, Julia Grant and Alexander Pelosi, she also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Florenceās funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday, May 1st at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 - 8 PM.
