Obituary

SANFORD- Lorraine M. (Duca) Enos, 73, (formerly of Parsonsfield, ME, and Billerica, MA) passed away Monday, April 22nd, at her home in Sanford, ME, after a brief illness.

Lorraine was born at St. Margaret's Hospital in Boston, MA, on August 27, 1945, to Henry C. and Doris E. (Dooks) Duca. She attended primary and secondary schools in Billerica, MA, later receiving her Diploma from Massabesic Adult Education, Waterboro, ME. Lorraine went on to attend Casco Bay College in Portland, ME, where she earned a Certificate in Accounting.

She married the love of her life, Stephen A. Enos, on October 19, 1963, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary just months prior to his passing in 2014. With their strong sense of love and family, they raised four daughters together. In 1977, she and Steve moved the family from Billerica, MA, to Limerick, ME, where they lived in the country away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Lorraine and Steve were quite the pair and where you would find one, you would surely find the other. The two were up for anything as long as they were together, be it long car rides with the girls in tow, helping out at the fair’s Bean Hole Supper, or any one of their chosen causes. She would tell you that her family was her greatest accomplishment and often could be heard sharing stories of their successes - no matter how small. She taught her daughters to be civic minded, compassionate, and giving through her own example. Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was evident just by watching her face light up every time she was in their presence. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, always looking forward to the next opportunity to be together.

Lorraine took pride in serving the community she loved. She was a founding member of the Limerick Rescue and the York County Wilderness Rescue and she also volunteered for many years with the York County Emergency Management Agency, most recently as the Deputy Director for Parsonsfield. Lorraine spent many years with the Ossipee Valley Agricultural Society, volunteering countless hours and eventually serving as Director of Commercial Exhibits for the Ossipee Valley Fair. She took this work very seriously and gained deep satisfaction in the smiles it brought to those who benefited.

She enjoyed traveling and explored the U.S. every chance she had. She took great pleasure in coordinating trips for family and friends, either over the road or an ocean cruise. She was a free spirit and would go wherever the wind would take her, so long as Steve was by her side.

Since her husband’s passing, Lorraine has resided at Mayflower Place in Sanford, ME, where she made valued friendships with both residents and staff.

Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, Stephen A. Enos, grandson Robert Richardson III, parents Henry and Doris (Dooks) Duca, sister Lavinia (Duca) Manning and brother William Duca, Sr.

She is survived by her four daughters; Lorene (Enos) Lemieux of Acton, ME; Patti (Enos) and husband Robert Richardson, Jr. of Limerick, ME; Deborah (Enos) Yandow and partner Jon Mongeon of Essex Junction, VT; and Suzanne (Enos) Alexis of Farmington, ME; her grandchildren; Paul and wife Sarah (Stearns) Enos; Heather (Enos) and husband Michael Iosua; Victoria Richardson; Bradley Yandow; Kylie Mongeon; Rubyanne Alexis; six great-grandchildren; Isabel and Katrina Enos; Adira, Drake and Aurora Iosua; and Benjamin LaCourse; four nephews; Gary, Mark, and Alan LaBranche; and William Duca; and one niece; Kristen Duca-Migneault. Lorraine is also survived by her lifelong friend, Roberta (Wood) Bailey.

In honor of Lorraine, a Celebration of Life luncheon will be held Sunday, May 5, 12:00-3:00pm at The Town Club, 6 Washington Street - 4th Floor, Sanford, ME 04073.
