Obituary

Marjorie Teresa(Sullivan ) Oxley - Hampton, to know her was to love her. Marjorie transitioned to heaven to be with her son N. Bryan Oxley on April 22, at the age of 90. Marjorie was born in Lowell and raised in Belmont, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Clinton A. and Teresa (Smith) Sullivan. After graduating from Belmont High School Marjorie attended Framingham Teachers College and while raising her family she continued taking courses. Marjorie began her career teaching Kindergarten at Newton Country Day School, a private school in Newton, MA and later worked as an office Manager for Specialists in Norwood and Wellesley, MA.

She was the treasurer for NAFCA . She was known and remembered by many as both a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader in Walpole. She volunteered at the Norwood Morrill Library Adult Literacy Program for eight years. This program was dear to her heart. Marjorie was proud to stand next to her students as they were sworn in as citizens of the United States. She also volunteered her time at The Shriners Association in Naples, Florida and assisted in many projects to give back to her community.

She had a love of the ocean and enjoyed swimming and boating. Her other interests included cross country skiing, ice skating, bicycling and golfing. In her retirement years she traveled abroad and while doing so never missed the opportunity to visit key sites of interests to broaden her mind and share with others. In her later years, Marjorie looked forward to visiting the Medfield Senior Center and was an active member on the ladies bridge team, this brought her so much joy and raved to family about the fun she had holding a position on this team. She was an avid reader of non-fiction and her love of books was supported by the Medfield Public Library who delivered books to her door weekly when she could no longer pick them up.

We will miss her bright spirt, her sharp wit and most importantly her role as matriarch of our family. Every time we shared a moment with her, we grew. Every story, every article, every conversation had a purpose and later time would reveal how meaningful that moment was and the lesson behind sharing it.

She leaves behind her daughter M. Leslie Colella and her husband Randall, her two sons Clinton J. Oxley and his wife Mary, Kevin T. Oxley and his wife Lisa. Six grandchildren, Jennifer Clark, Brenda Elwell and her husband Todd, Bryan Colella, Hannah Oxley, Cameron Colella, and Katherine Oxley. Marjorie had four beloved great grandchildren, John and Logan Manning and Charlotte and Catherine Elwell.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 26 in St. Edward’s Church, Medfield at 10:00.

Visiting hours will be in the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main Street, Walpole on Thursday from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Medfield Public Library Fund, 468 Main Street, Medfield, MA 02052
