Obituary

LOOBY, Mary (Killion) of Dennisport, formerly of Natick and Mission Hill, died suddenly surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 22, 2019. Born in Boston, Mary was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine Killion. Beloved wife of Peter Looby and loving mother of Kevin Looby and wife Bronwen, Timothy Looby and wife Norma, Michael Looby and wife Stephanie, Daniel Looby and wife Kim and daughter Maura Mahoney and husband Sean, and Brendan Looby. Loving sister of Margaret Tarmey of Weymouth, Patricia Killion of Burlington, Michael Killion and wife Sheila of Roslindale, James Killion and wife Brianne of Norwood, Peter Killion and wife Deborah of Norwood and Ellen Prendergast and husband John of Marshfield and the late Pauline Campbell and husband Thomas and the late John Killion and wife Jeanne of Roslindale. Also survived by her brother-in-law Joseph Looby. Devoted grandmother of Martin Looby, Kyle Looby, Katherine Looby, Brian Looby, Alec Looby, Owen Looby and Jillian Looby and also loving stepgrandmother to Evan and Nick Bernier and Carlos and Lorraine Salaverria, Joseph and Gavin Hanbury and Jacquelyn and Meghan Mahoney. Mary is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mary was a graduate of Mission High School, Class of 1958 and received her RN from Catherine Laboure Nursing School and her BSN from Framingham State. She worked at the Leonard Morse Hospital and the VNA for over 30 years, where she touched many people’s lives. Mary loved traveling. She visited Ireland many times with her husband, siblings, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed being the matriarch of the extended Looby/Killion Family and loved entertaining. She was a devout Catholic and shared her faith and love of God by doing volunteer work for The Holy Trinity Parish in Harwich and raising money for the Mission Grammar School. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., WEST ROXBURY, Friday, April 26 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Perpetual Help “Mission Church” at 10 o’clock. Visiting Hours Thursday 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends invited to attend.
