Grace “Lenelle” Johnson Hamilton, 92, of Fitzgerald, formerly of Tifton, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Ms. Hamilton will be laid to rest at Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery in Moultrie. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Ms. Hamilton’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 20, 1927 in Colquitt County, Ms. Hamilton was the daughter of the late Dellie Johnson and Lucille Bryant Johnson. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Kendell and Agnes Johnson; and two brothers, Jack Johnson and William Johnson. Before retiring, she was a waitress at the Lankford Manor and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kelltown. She was also a member of the Red Hat Club at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia. She enjoyed bowling, gardening and caring for her cats.
Ms. Hamilton is survived by five daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara White and Dee Dee Hamilton, both of Fitzgerald, Elaine Pate of Arabi, Faye and Bill Cooper of Tifton and Jacquelin and Johnny Eaton of Adel; two sisters, Becky Nelms of Sylvester and Fannie Lindsey of Mobile, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Eric, Stacy, Steven, Teresa, Geoffrey, Brandy, Jody, Lee and Stephanie; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Tift Area, 618 North Central Avenue, Tifton, GA 31794.
