Charlton MA./Croydon, N.H.
Robert W. Grieve, 94, passed away April 17, 2019 at the Overlook Masonic Healthcare Center in Charlton.
His wife of 57 years, Shirley M. (Power) Grieve died July 18, 2014.
Bob leaves behind his son, Douglas R. Grieve and his wife Johanna of Beaufort, N.C. and a grand-daughter; Audrey Grieve of Portland, Oregon, several nieces, nephews, grand- nieces and grand-nephews and a brother-in-law, Dick Corliss.
He was predeceased by 2 sisters; Marjorie Corliss and Joan Dugener.
Bob was born September 22, 1924 in Boston, Ma. son of Henry and Edith(Benner) Grieve. He was raised in Needham, graduated from Needham High School in 1942.
Robert served during WWII in the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. Upon returning from active duty, he joined the National Guard.
Mr. Grieve graduated in 1950 from Norwich University in Northfield, VT. And was a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He worked in management for General Electric for 35 years designing steam turbines. Bob stayed active skiing down- hill at Mt. Sunapee, golfing and traveling around the United States with his wife in their motor home. He was an active member at the Church of the Good Shepherd Methodist Church in Newport. He also was a 50+ year member of the Masons and the Shriners. He held membership with the American Legion and V.F.W. club in Newport.
Mr. Grieve participated with the firing squad detail at military services.
There are No calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 11 AM in the James C. Nicholl, Jr. Chapel at the Overlook Community, 88 Masonic Home Rd. in Charlton, prior to that a Masonic Ritual will be at 10:45.
Burial with Full Military Honors will be in Meadow View Cemetery, Amherst, New Hampshire.
