Joseph F. Mendonca, 73, of New Bedford died Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Mary C. (Hickey) Mendonca.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Helen (Amaral) and Joseph F. Mendonca, Sr., he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
Joe enjoyed playing guitar and accordion and spending time with his family. He was loving, kind and gentle and will be missed by his entire family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; his son, Steven Mendonca and his wife Rachel; three daughters, Sheila Fogaren and her husband Mark, Joanne Moniz, and Kristen Dubois and her husband Mark; 11 siblings; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
