Joseph P. Giordano, Sr., of Stoneham, formerly of Medford, passed away Sunday, April 21st. He was 93. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Sabino and Rose (Ortolani) Giordano.
Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy from Boston, in the summer of 1943, serving during WWII. After his enlistment Joseph came home and became a Medford police officer. He enjoyed thirty four years of dedicated service to the city of Medford, right up until his retirement.
Joseph loved spending time with his family. They were his prized possession "La famiglia" was the perfect term Joe used to describe them. After retirement Joe and Bertha moved to Fort Meyers Florida and spent 22 wonderful years watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets as they walked the white sand beaches with their beloved friends and family. Joseph was a dedicated husband, a loving dad, a great papa and an amazing friend. He will be greatly missed.
Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Bertha F. (Girard) Giordano for 62 loving years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Dr. Joseph P. Giordano Jr., and his wife Peggy of Andover, Stephen G. Giordano of Stoneham, and Patricia A. Giordano of Berlin. He was the loving papa of Eric N. Giordano and Dr. Elisa E. Giordano, both of Andover, and the dear brother of Mary Anne Orr and her husband Richard of Belleville, IL, and the late Nicholas A. Giordano. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family on Saturday, April 27th from 9 to 11 AM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
