Obituary

Louise M. Gilchrist, 66, of Cumberland died Monday April 15, 2019 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the loving companion of David Haupt for over 30 years.
Born in Woonsocket and raised in Cumberland she was a daughter of Theresa A. (Boyer) Dainef of Cumberland and the late Alfred A. Dainef.
Louise was a graduate of Cumberland High School Class of 1971 and attended Sawyer Business School. She lived in Pawtucket, East Providence and Attleboro before returning to Cumberland.
Louise was employed as a medical transcription secretary at Notre Dame Hospital in Central Falls for many years and later worked for Medical Transcription Services. Using her typing skills she would often assist family and friends alike with anything that required the skill, speed and dexterity she had honed over the course of her career.
Louise enjoyed bowling. She was an avid yard sale bargain hunter and bought and sold antiques and memorabilia on EBay. She loved to read and liked noting better than to to immerse herself in a good mystery especially anything by James Patterson.
Louise was an easy going lady with a kind, loving and caring spirit. In a word Louise was a real “Peach”!
In addition to her mother and companion David she is survived by a son Eric Gilchrist and his wife Melissa of Cumberland and a daughter Dawn Jackson of Lincoln. She was the sister of Doug Dainef and his wife Barbara of North Smithfield and Paul Dainef and his wife Trudy of Cumberland, Sandra Doire and her husband Ron of Cumberland and Katherine Gilchrist and her husband George of Pawtucket. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Tyler and Jossie and is also survived by her extend family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her funeral service will be Friday April 26, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7 pm prior to the service.
