Obituary

Lawrence K. “Larry” Ambrose Sr. of Leominster, MA passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2019 at the age of 82.

Larry was born on November 10, 1936 in Monessan, Pennsylvania. At the age of 13, he moved to Hubbard, Ohio. He graduated from Hubbard, High School in 1954. He then proudly served in the United State Navy. His service allowed him many benefits which included schooling during and after his enlistment. He was commissioned on the Navy vessel USS Fiske. Larry first settled in the Canton, Massachusetts area, marrying his young bride Sandra . They later raised their four children in Hudson, Massachusetts. Larry spent his early years working at Epsco, then Honeywell, and later retired from Digital Equipment Corporation as a Quality Control Engineer. After his retirement, he worked for some local auto auctions picking up and delivering cars. Larry joined many golf and bowling leagues through the years with friends and coworkers.

During the holidays, Larry enjoyed buying gifts for his family. He would spend countless hours assembling toys, adding any necessary batteries, testing them out, and wrapping them. Some of his happiest moments were watching his kids and grandkids receiving and opening their gifts. He always remembered birthdays. He marked those special days through the years with a call, a visit, a card, or birthday package. Many birthday packages were complete with religious items he received through his many charities. Larry was an honest, hardworking man with a strong moral compass. His home reflected his love of family and country through many pictures and nautical items. He proudly put out his American flag on a daily basis. In addition to being patriotic, he was very proud of his Italian heritage.

Larry had strong family ties in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He enjoyed his many trips to Youngstown, Ohio visiting his family. He ultimately became a caretaker for his Mother, sister, and Father in their hour of need. He adored his mother and his sister Judy and missed them a great deal after their passing. He enjoyed reminiscing and could chat like no other on the phone. He was a story teller who remembered exact dates, names, and places from years past. What a great mind for detail he had. Larry was extremely self-reliant and took pride in taking care of himself and others. He enjoyed little projects and home repairs. He loved making song tapes, documenting family pictures for Facebook, charting his health, taking long walks, and growing his many plants. Larry was a wonderful neighbor to have, especially during snow storms. In his later years, some of his neighbors returned the favor.

Larry was predeceased by his parents John and Virginia Ambrose from Youngstown, OH and his sister Judith Lucente and her husband Anthony Lucente. He is survived by his brother Thomas Ambrose and his wife Betty from Chagrin Falls, OH, his four children and their nine grandchildren, Lauren (Bob Kelm) , their children Stacey and Bobby, Linda (David Tonioli), their children Ty, Frank and Kristina, L.
