Doris M. Showers, 75, formerly of Derry, NH died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at Hanover Hill Healthcare Center in Manchester, NH after a lengthy illness. She was born in Gloucester, MA on December 27, 1930, the daughter of the late Clyde and Evelyn (Bent) Gobel. Prior to her retirement in 1993, she had been employed by HADCO for more than twenty years. She had resided on Brady Avenue in Derry until her retirement at which time she and her husband began traveling throughout the country. Six years ago, illness required that she live at the Hanover Hill Healthcare Center, where she enjoyed feeding birds, tending to flowers and several arts and crafts programs. Doris always enjoyed greeting visitors to the home.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Showers of Lebanon, ME, three sons, Robert DiNito of Manchester, John F. Leipold III of Derry and Leonard L. Leipold, also of Derry, and 12 grandchildren.
Her son Leonard Leipold writes:" A mother can never stay long enough, but loving, caring memories last a lifetime."
There are no funeral services. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry handled the arrangements.
