New Bedford– Ermelinda N. (Torres) Pacheco, age 89, of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Evaristo Pacheco.
Ermelinda was born in St. Michael, Azores Portugal to Jose Pacheco and Eugenia (Melo) Torres. She moved to this area in February 1973 and had worked as a stitcher for Cliftex Corp. Ermelinda loved all of her grandchildren very much and enjoyed sharing her old time stories with them.
She is survived by her daughters, Maria C. Paiva and Maria Anjos Pacheco both of New Bedford; her grandchildren, Nelson Paiva, Gary Paiva, Phillip Sousa, Mike Sousa, Joshua Paiva and Ashley Alvarado; as well as great grandchildren, Joshua Paiva, Andrew Paiva and Jagger Sousa.
Ermelindas’ visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening, April 23, 2019 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John Cemetery.
