Obituary

Manuel Costa, Jr.. 76, of New Bedford died Tuesday January 3, 2006 at home after a brief illness. He was the former husband of the late Barbara M. (Camara) Seamans.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel and Mary L. (Costa) Costa, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

Mr. Costa was formerly employed as a driver for various taxi companies in this area.

He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he participated in the cribbage league. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed doing puzzles.

Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Costa and her companion Jesse Velez of New Bedford; his good friend, Terry Michaud of New Bedford; a brother, Frank Costa of New Bedford; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Bruce D. Costa, Steven A. Costa, and Randall Costa, and the brother of the late John, Elvira, Dolores, Emily, Mamie, and Diamentina.


His Graveside Service will be held on Friday January 6, 2005 at 12 Noon in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Thursday January 5, 2006 from 7-9 PM.
