BUXTON- Gene Francis Pitts, age 67, passed away on April 15, 2019 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
He was born in Portland on Aug. 27, 1951, a son of the late Leonard and June (Carter) Pitts and attended Westbrook schools.
Gene proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Guam.
For 22 years, Gene worked as a tire technician for Century Tire.
He will always be remembered as loving grandfather who always enjoyed spending time with his buddies who affectionately called him “Gumpy”.
He is survived by his children- Sabrina Pitts of Portland, Michael Pitts of Wilkes Barre, PA, Naomi Osmond and her husband Christopher of Newport News, VA, and Nicole Richard of Sabattus; brother- Robert Pitts and his wife Ethel of Standish; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service with USMC Honors will be held on Saturday April 20 at 11 AM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton.
