New Bedford – Dorothy T. (Mello) Perry, age 92, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Sacred Heart Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard S. Perry.
Dorothy was born in New Bedford to Eugene M. and Mary R. (Hayes) Mello. She worked as a stitcher at various textile mills in New Bedford until her retirement. She enjoyed donating her time to St. Mary’s Church and volunteering at St Luke’s Hospital.
She is survived by her 3 children, Richard W. Perry of North Port, FL, Cheryl Ann Thomas of Dartmouth and Robert B. Perry of Smithfield, RI; 1 sister, Mildred C. Frias of Dartmouth; 4 grandchildren, Nathan, David, Tara and Loryn; 2 great-grandchildren, Mason and Samantha; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Eugene M. Mello.
Dorothy’s visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Liturgy of the Word and Final Commendation at St. Mary’s Church in Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
