Standish- Charlyce Asali, age 61, passed away on April 13, 2019 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice after fighting a long battle with Hepatitis C obtained when she was having cancer treatment in the early 80s. She was surrounded by her siblings, children, great grandchildren and friends.
She was born on June 13, 1957, the daughter of Ruth E. (Dearborn) Morton and late Charles L. Morton. Charlyce was preceded by her late husband Joseph W. Asali who passed away in 1999. They have two children, Natasha M. Asali and Joseph C. Asali who reside in Limington and Standish. Surviving are also her siblings- Bonnie Myers, Sheri Gowen, Steve Morton and David Morton.
Charlyce also has two grandchildren, Jordyn Hurtubise and Colby Hurtubise, who she loved dearly and they called her Grammy Cha Cha.
Charlyce and Joe raised their children on Watchic Lake in Standish where she enjoyed gardening, cooking, laying out and playing games with her children. She really enjoyed socializing with the wonderful neighbors and reliving the good old times on the lake from her young 20s on.
Charlyce was full of life, often the life of the party, always joking around and not opposed to a food fight in the kitchen or “muck” fights in the lake with all the kids that came to her home. She loved having her children’s friends over for game nights and bonfires. Her home was decorated in all pink along with posters of Marilyn Monroe and Shabby Chic décor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Natasha Asali of PO Box 6 Standish, ME 04084 for Charlyce’s Celebration of Life to be held at Bruno’s on May 18th 12-4pm at 33 Allen Ave Portland, ME. Charlyce wanted to go out with a party, so a party she will have! All are welcome who knew her.
