Obituary

William “Hutch” Hutcheson 83, a native and lifelong resident of Needham died on Monday Jan 2, 2006 at his home. Mr. Hutcheson graduated from Needham High School class of 1940. He went to Colby College for over two years before he enlisted in the Navy in 1942. As a First Lieutenant he served as an Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer on the USS Cooner and USS Rombach. After his discharged in 1946 he finished his education at Babson College. He went to work with his brother John and took over the family business “Hutcheson Company” in Boston and moved to Tremont St. in the late 40’s. Hutch believed in promoting the cause of people with special needs by giving them employment, which turned out to be very beneficial for Hutch as well as his employees. He was the President and owner of the Company when it was sold in the mid 80’s. Hutch was very active with his Colby Alumni and was also a member The University Club in Boston and the Needham Retired Men’s Club. He was Past President of the Needham Golf Club and was a member for over 50 years where he served on many committees. Hutch was the beloved husband for 61 years of Doris (Blanchard). Loving father of Sandra H. Buck of Calais, VT, Heather Gallagher of Cohasset, Judy Tolley of Chelsea, Cindy Hutcheson of Agawam and Laurie Leavitt of Holliston, Dear grandfather of Brennan, Chris, Casey, Jake, Brad, Michael, Leah, Anna, Christine and Rich. Great grandfather of Connor, Samantha and Brendan. Brother in law of Martha Hutcheson of Weston. Memorial Services will be held at the Congregational Church of Needham 1154 Great Plain Ave. on Friday Jan. 6th at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham on Thurs from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Colby College, 4320 Mayflower Hill, Waterville ME 04901; The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163 and to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St. Worcester, MA 01608.
