SALEM- William Manning Lander, Jr. 82, of Salem, husband of the late Virginia E. Lander, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Essex Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Beverly, following a long illness.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late William M. Sr. & Anna (Donovan) Lander.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. lander was employed at GTE Sylvania and then for many years at Varian in Gloucester and Woburn for many years.
Serving in the US Navy, he was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict.
A resident of Salem for most of his life, he was a member of the DAV.
He is survived by one daughter, Catherine Lander of Salem, one son, Mark Lander of Peabody, 3 grandchildren, one sister, Rita Lamando of Connecticut and a close friend, Patricia Caron of Salem.
His funeral service will be held Thursday, January 5, 2005, at 11 am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, with Rev. Timothy J. Rogers, Rector of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Salem, officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 AM, prior to the service. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
