Carol J. Greenough, 68

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Carol J. (McGowan) Greenough, age 68, of Mansfield, formerly of Dedham, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife for over thirty-five years of Michael W. Greenough.

Born in Brookline, MA on August 14, 1950, she was a loving daughter of the late James T. and Margaret J. (Morrison) McGowan.

Carol grew up in the Greenlodge section of Dedham and was a graduate of Dedham High School. She had made her home in Mansfield for the past three years and prior to retiring, had been employed for over twenty-five years at Verizon, retiring with the position of Supervisor for Central Office Technicians.

Carol’s greatest joy was her cherished and adoring family. She loved coaching for the Jason Roberts Challenger League in Readville and was recognized as being a pioneer for women in technology. A former longtime resident of Dedham, her hobbies included gardening and reading.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted children: Michael J. Greenough and his wife Valaree of Leominster and Meredith J. Stoneking and her husband Dan of Millis. She was the sister of James McGowan, John McGowan, Stephen McGowan, Margo McGowan, Peter McGowan, the late Janet Burns and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Services and burial will be private. Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may remember Carol with a donation in her memory made to the Jason Roberts Challenger League, 94 Sprague Street, Readville, MA 02136.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
