Obituary


Mr. Richard A. Welch, Sr. of Winchester formerly of Medford passed away peacefully, April 4, 2019. He was 77 years of age. He was the beloved husband of Louise V. (Nunziato) Welch and together they shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Harold G. and Phyllis (Staffier) Welch.

Richard was raised and educated in Medford and was a 1959 graduate of Medford High School. He went on to further his education at Boston College where he earned and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Following his graduation he began his career with State Street Bank of Boston. He retired as Vice President following a 42 year career and was most proud of his work in the Master Trust Division where he served as the Division Head. Throughout his working career, Richard was able to travel and visit different places all over the world. However, Richard's greatest joy was his family and nothing made him happier than to be sharing time with his beloved wife Louise and their children. Richard and Louise enjoyed spending time together in Aruba and Florida over the years. They also cherished many trips to Disney World with their children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and many dear friends.

In addition to his late parents, Richard is sadly predeceased by his grandson Vincent Corbett and his sister-in-law Carol Welch.

He is survived by his wife Louise and their children; Richard Welch, Jr. and his wife Kristine of Winchester, Cheryl Corbett and her husband William of Tewksbury. He was the loving grandfather of Richard "Ricky" Welch III, Ryan Welch, and Jenna Welch. Brother of Robert J. Welch of Medford. Brother-in-law of Robert B. Fleming and his wife Joanne of Woburn. Uncle of Lee Ann Fleming McGahan, Susan Fleming, Robert Welch, Kathy Lee and Kerri Avenell.

Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, April 8th, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge St.,, Winchester, at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home prior to the Mass from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Richard's late grandson Vincent, to the Boston Children's Hospital Trust, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
