John Joseph Resteghini Sr. of Stoneham, formerly of Somerville passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2006 at his home. He was 79 years of age.
Born in Somerville, John was the cherished son of the late Louis Resteghini and Angela (Steffanoti) Resteghini. John was a warm and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all.
John was a dedicated letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years. During World War II, John proudly served our country as a Seaman 2nd Class in the United States Navy. After retiring, John volunteered at Winchester Hospital in his later years.
John was the beloved husband of the late Jennie (Niccoli) Resteghini. He was the devoted father of John Resteghini and his wife Christine of Billerica, Joan Resteghini and her husband Miguel of Everett, Mary Havican and her husband Michael, and Linda Lacolla and her husband Eric, all of Stoneham. John was the beloved papa of 9 grandchildren and the dear brother of Louis Resteghini of Somerville and Anne Noone of Marblehead. He was the brother in law of Joseph Niccoli and Louise Piacentini, both of Wellesley and Mary Lizotte of Sterling.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Friday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating John’s life in St. Patrick’s Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours Thursday 4-8pm. Parking attendants will be on duty. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham.
