Obituary

STANDISH - Clyde W. Foster, Sr, made his journey to heaven surrounded by his family on Wednesday April 3rd, 2019.

He was born on February 28th, 1944 in Lewiston, Maine. He was the son of the late Cedric Foster and Irma Post Foster. While still young his family moved to Windham, Maine. He is predeceased by his brother, Donald Foster of CA. He is survived by his brother Alan Foster of Standish and his sister Cheryl Foster Howard of Standish.

He graduated from Windham High School in 1962. Clyde married his high school sweetheart Sharon Brackett the day after they graduated high school on June 15th, 1962. They lived in Gorham, Maine and later moved to Standish in 1971. They had four sons. Clyde is survived by his wife Sharon and his children - Scott Foster of Standish, Curt Foster and his partner Alaina Murray of China, Maine and Jamie Foster and his wife Jenny Sturgis Foster of Buxton. He is predeceased by his son Clyde William Foster, Jr.

Clyde has seven grandchildren - Timothy Whitten Foster of Limington, Ashlyn Lavigne of Augusta, Jake Foster of Augusta, Tayla Foster of Buxton, Anthony Foster currently stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, Jack Murray and Sarah Foster both of China, Maine. He has six great-grandchildren.

He loved his 3 little yorkies but Suzie was his favorite. She went to all of his doctor's appts and transfusions with him. She was also curled up with him as he passed.

In the last 10 years, he spent time at his camp on Long Lake in Brighton, Maine where he enjoyed getting together with family and friends, boating and fishing. He loved to sit out on the screened porch and would often sleep out there.

Clyde owned multiple businesses throughout his life including the Standish Mobile Station, Kezar Falls Texaco, a logging business and Clyde W. Foster & Sons. After he retired, he worked part-time for his son Jamie, the owner of C.W. Foster & Son.

Clyde drove tractor trailer over the road for multiple companies including G.W. Jewitt, C.E. Bouchey, and Earl W. Noyes & Sons.

He spent time making stained glass. He liked flying radio control model airplanes with his sons Scott and Jamie. He enjoyed 4-wheeling with his sons and friends. He and his sons would build scale model railroads. Clyde loved to fly and travel. He and his wife Sharon have traveled to Ireland, England, France, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Hong Kong, Mexico, Brazil, Hawaii and also went on several Caribbean cruises and an Alaskan cruise. Clyde travelled throughout all 50 states and all the providences and territories of Canada. But most of all, Clyde absolutely loved to drive dump truck and plow snow.

He was a life time member of the Kiwanis Club in Standish and was the club president for two years and the club treasurer for several years. He was a member of the Limington Wheelers and he was their Safety Training Officer for a time. He was also a Boy Scout.

Clyde believed in working hard and playing hard. Clyde was always anxious to get home to his family after driving cross county. He spent a lot of time with his sons camping, fishing and playing games. His wife and children were at the very center of his life. He was a loving father and husband. He was a great friend to many people and would help anyone in need. He was very kind hearted. He was quite the jokester and just so happened to pass that and his stubbornness on to his sons. He will be missed by many.

A funeral service will be held on Friday April 12 at 6 PM at the East Limington Baptist Church, Rt. 11, Limington.
Burial will be in the spring at Dow’s Corner Cemetery. "Clyde's last ride" will be a truck procession from the funeral home to the Dow Corner Cemetery on his all time favorite truck where we will say a final goodbye to him in May. Another announcement will follow with more details at a later date.
